did you know ?

What we consider to be the air around us is a cocktail of gasses. Among these gases you would see a balloon floating effortlessly upward and this is because the helium held inside it is lighter than any of those gasses causing it to rise. Helium’s average density is around 0.18 g/mL whereas air’s average density is around 1.22 g/mL, since helium is a smaller number it will cause it to rise to the top. This is the same reason oil floats on top of water. Source: Elmhurst EDU
