1998.  Neutral Milk Hotel releases In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.  There are few indie albums that are more loved and cherished than this record.  Jeff Mangum takes us to a strange world of two-headed boys, mothers in garbage bins, and sticking forks into shoulders. This album is simultaneously uplifting and depressing and I love it very much.
